Jorge Usán work is about opposition. It is about connecting the extremes. Jumping from white to black, from tension to release, from simplicity to complexity, from macro to microelement.

It is a world that encompasses the mighty organization as well as the nano-structure. In a way he is an architect of many art works, a thinker and a planner.

His work is a composition of shapes, a work of gestures and directions. In many ways his works is music to me.

His painting looks like a contemporary score, overlapping density of sound, and white parts silences. Where he sees and expresses himself in abstract works, I see and hear music of different textures.

In a way Jorge is painting sounds, he is creating multimedia work that can be used and understood by different artists and audience.

Musicians can (and did) read Jorge Usán work in order to create music, using the painting as a musical score. His work is a map, a score, and an idea.

As many ideas, an idea is not constrain to one medium. Jorge Usán creates a language that has no artistic boundaries. It is visual, textural and musical.

Jorge Usán is drawing visual experiences and painting sounds where I am drawing music.
