Music Centre is a cubic, irregular, folded-like structure created in post-chemical territory near Krakow center. The place called Bonarka is soon to be competing with typical city center, offering one of the largest shopping center, business center and residential buildings in one place. Music Centre is an attempt to look at this part of town in a different way, which consists of two concert halls, recording studios, rehearsal rooms as well as green, recreational zone. It transforms whole area into something more than just consumption district.
In first part thesis describes the idea behind the project, construction descriptions, its acoustics and room areas for each floor.
Besides urban planning, this work’s second part presents acoustic design of concert halls, their typology and rules that helps achieve good results. It also discusses construction solutions in large surfaces made of steel.
